Making A Difference
In April 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Vigilant saw an opportunity to pivot and give back. As hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country faced shortages of personal protective equipment (PPE), the company repurposed a portion of its 40,000 square-foot manufacturing facility to produce face shields. The team of Vigilant engineers remodeled a crowd-sourced prototype using common materials and pre-programmed computer software designed to control factory equipment. Over several months, more than 10,000 face shields were distributed to local hospitals, fire departments, and other facilities. Vigilant was also able to share their design, bill of materials, and process details with colleagues in the woodworking and manufacturing communities in hopes of empowering others to follow in their footsteps for the greater good.

An Award-Winning Operation
It’s no wonder that Vigilant has been recognized for its superior craftsmanship by members of the Cabinet Makers Association. They won two of the 2020 CMA Awards in the utility and storage categories for two residential wine storage projects. The first was an elegant home wine cellar project based in San Francisco, which utilized the Wine Guardian ducted systems for its versatility in installation and flexible ductwork leading to a self-contained unit outside the actual cellar. The storage award was earned for a wine cabinet project within a private home located in San Francisco. Vigilant selected Wine Guardian’s ducted split solution for that particular application, because it works well in small spaces and is extremely quiet.
