OUR HISTORY
The story of Wine Guardian began in 1998 when our founders were looking for a better way to protect their own wine collections.
Wine Guardian was started by father-and-son entrepreneurs Larry and Mike Wetzel, who also happen to be career experts in specialty air conditioning and refrigeration. After applying their extensive HVAC knowledge to their personal wine cellars, they realized that the standard residential units on the market were noisy, cumbersome, and simply couldn’t consistently maintain the critical 55 °F temperature or provide adequate humidity control.
So they created Wine Guardian, commercial-grade cooling systems built to deliver precision and reliability previously unheard of in the industry. What began as a solution for passionate collectors has grown into a world-renowned brand trusted by homeowners and luxury establishments across the globe.
